A quality Level 2 home charger typically costs $1,500–$3,000 fully installed, including the unit and electrical work. The exact price depends on your switchboard capacity, cable run distance, and the charger brand you choose. Your installer will assess everything and give you a fixed quote.

Technically, yes — but it's painfully slow (20–30+ hours for a full charge) and can strain older wiring. A dedicated charger is 10x faster, safer, and designed for daily use. Most EV owners switch to a proper charger within the first month of ownership.
